About Me
When i started, my artwork was primarily done in oils and pastels. My medium of choice has always been oil. Oil paints richness, texture, color and beauty has always captivated me. Art galleries are filled with people’s definition of art but our most prized works of art are from the old master’s such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Vermeer, Velazquez, Goya, Rubens and Michelangelo to name a few. Those paintings are timeless and in my opinion priceless for they show true mastery in materials and technique. These paintings don’t need an explanation so you can understand what you are looking at. They are amazing and invoke our deepest respect for the gift and talent of those artists who honed their craft and created them hundreds of years ago. This is the main reason why I started painting with the old master’s technique and learned from artists that value the old maters skills.
I became a photographer because I wanted to take pictures so that I could create paintings. I don’t have the time to paint on location for days and the only way to capture a beautiful scene and later put it on canvas is through photography. What I quickly discovered was that photography was an art in itself and I needed to learn how to properly capture and develop an image. I have been a serious photographer for the last 15 years. I enjoy learning the art of photography from professionals that make their living in photography and are true master’s not just hobbyists. Computers have made it possible to merge photography and painting together. Now we have digital photography and digital art. I can now creat a digital paintiung. Digital paintings require a great deal of detail and time but it takes months and sometimes even a year to finish an oil painting with the old master’s technique.
I still have a great deal of learning and growth ahead of me but this webpage will be a way to showcase my growth and development as well as share my art. Thank you for taking the time to see my work.
